Park Home Cladding Grants: How External Wall Insulation Gets Funded

There is no cladding grant as such. There is a route that pays for external wall insulation on a park home, and one condition that catches most people out.

Checked 7 August 2026 3 min read

The short answer

  • No scheme is called a “cladding grant” — the fundable measure is external wall insulation
  • Park homes are in scope for ECO4, which runs until 31 December 2026
  • The main route is a means-tested benefit; councils can also refer you under ECO4 Flex
  • GBIS is closed, so any page offering park home insulation through it is out of date
  • If you own the home but rent the pitch, you will need the site owner's permission

External wall wrap is the measure that transforms a pre-2005 park home. It is fundable, but the pitch owner has to agree to it.

Park home cladding grants are a real thing under a different name. No UK scheme has a cladding budget, but external wall insulation — the wrap-and-render or wrap-and-board work people mean when they say cladding — is a standard energy efficiency measure, and park homes are eligible for it.

The route is ECO4, and the clock is running: Ofgem states the scheme “will run until 31 December 2026, following a nine-month extension”.

Why park homes are such strong candidates

A park home built before the 2005 insulation standards leaks heat through walls that are often only a few inches thick. That makes it exactly the kind of property ECO4 is designed to reach, because the scheme is scored on how much energy the work saves. A poorly insulated park home on electric heating has a lot of saving available, which is what makes an installer willing to take the job on.

That is the practical logic behind eligibility, and it is worth understanding: your EPC band and your current heating matter more to an installer's decision than anything else about you.

How you qualify

The main ECO4 route is a means-tested benefit. GOV.UK lists Universal Credit, Pension Guarantee Credit, Pension Savings Credit, Income Support, income-based Jobseeker's Allowance, income-related Employment and Support Allowance, Child Benefit and Housing Benefit.

If nobody in the household receives one, your council can still refer you under ECO4 Flex. Route 1 covers gross household income under £31,000 a year; the other routes cover proxy targeting, NHS referrals and criteria each council sets for itself. Every council publishes a statement of intent explaining which routes it uses, and the referral is at its discretion — which is why no honest site can promise you this one.

The park home must be your permanent residence. Holiday units are not domestic premises for these purposes.

The condition that catches people out

Most park home residents own the home but rent the pitch it stands on. External work changes the appearance of the unit and sometimes its footprint, so the site owner has to agree before anything happens. Get that conversation done before you invite an installer to survey, not after. Some site agreements also have conditions about external finishes.

What about GBIS?

Several pages still offer park home insulation through the Great British Insulation Scheme. GBIS has closed: GOV.UK states that “the service to check if you're eligible for free or cheaper home insulation has closed”, with installations finalised by 31 March 2026. If a page is routing you through GBIS in 2026, it has not been updated. What GBIS was and what replaced it →

Common questions

Is there a grant for park home cladding?

Not under that name. There is no dedicated cladding scheme, but external wall insulation on a park home is a fundable measure under ECO4, which runs until 31 December 2026. Most pages advertising a park home cladding grant mean exactly this.

Do I qualify for ECO4 on a park home?

The main route is a means-tested benefit such as Universal Credit, Pension Credit, Income Support, income-based JSA, income-related ESA, Child Benefit or Housing Benefit. If nobody in the household receives one, your council may still refer you under ECO4 Flex, whose Route 1 covers gross household income under £31,000 a year. The park home must be your permanent residence.

Do I need the site owner's permission?

Yes, if you own the home but rent the pitch. External wall insulation changes the outside of the unit, so the site owner has to agree before work starts. Settle that first — an installer cannot proceed without it, and some site agreements set conditions on external finishes.

Can I still get park home insulation through GBIS?

No. GOV.UK states that the Great British Insulation Scheme's eligibility service has closed, with installations finalised by 31 March 2026. Pages still routing park home applications through GBIS are out of date. ECO4 is the live route until the end of 2026.
